Obituary of Ira Johnson
Ira F. Johnson, 75, of LeRoy, Kansas, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at his home.
Ira was born October 15, 1937, on the family farm southeast of LeRoy, the son of Milton and Hattie (Fowler) Johnson. He grew up at LeRoy.
On July 13, 1957, Ira married Melda M. Ward at Wesley United Methodist Church in Iola. They made their home in LeRoy two years before moving to Iola. They lived east of Gas for 30 years. Melda preceded him in death December 21, 2005, and he moved to LeRoy a year later.
Ira worked as a mechanic for Smith Diesel & Equipment in Iola, owned and operated Johnson's Tractor Repair and retired from Chanute Implement.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning and mowing with his John Deere mower.

4 Sons: Mike Johnson & wife, Elsa of Liberty, MO, Jim Johnson of LeRoy, KS, Douglas Johnson & wife, YoLonda of Towanda, KS, and Scott Johnson & wife, Brenda of Great Bend, KS
1 Brother: Milton Warren Johnson of Burlington, KS
8 Grandchildren & 3 Great Grandchildren
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, grandson Ethan Scott Johnson and an infant brother Walter Johnson.
Cremation has taken place.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
