Obituary of Helen John
Helen V. John, 96, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, January 12, 2015, at Windsor Place in Iola.
Helen was born June 28, 1918, at Brazilton, Kansas, the daughter of Dick and Verna (Meyer) Bruenjes and grew up in the Stark and Walnut areas.
On October 31, 1937, Helen married George W. John and they made their home on a farm at Stark. Besides being a farmwife, Helen worked at the ASC Office in Erie before she retired. Mr. John preceded her in death December 17, 1990. She moved from Stark to Iola in 2003 to live closer to her family.
Helen was a member of the Stark United Methodist Church & Quilt Club, and numerous Artist Clubs. She played the piano at church for many years. She was an excellent cook and talented artist. She painted 100's of oil paintings earning numerous awards and recognitions.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, son James and sister Marie Bruenjes Brenner.
VISITATION: 6:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, 2015, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, at the Stark United Methodist Church, Stark, Kansas
BURIAL: Mt. Moriah Cemetery, north of Stark, Kansas
MEMORIAL: Stark United Methodist Church
