Obituary of Oliver Henkle
Oliver O. Henkle, 97, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, September 8, 2014 at Windsor Place in Iola.
Oliver was born February 20, 1917, on a farm northeast of Aliceville, Kansas, the son of Walter and Maude (Pickering) Henkle. He grew up on family farms at Aliceville and Westphalia and attended Mount Joy Rural School north of Westphalia.
On June 30, 1937, Oliver married Margarette Walters in Iola. They made their home on a farm near Aliceville before moving to Iola in 1946. Oliver farmed, did sheet metal work and retired from the Iola Police Department. Margarette preceded him in death March 4, 2011.
He was a member of the Iola Elks Lodge, Peace Officers Assn., and attended First Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Pearl Wells and brothers Wayne and Donald Henkle.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, where visitation will be an hour prior to the service.
BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas
