Obituary of Mary Heinz
Mary K. Heinz, 94, of Iola, Kansas, left to be with the Lord she served for over 60 years, on Wednesday, December 21, 2011, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola.
Mary was born March 15, 1917, at Galesburg, Illinois, the daughter of Earl and Margaret (Emery) Nelson. She grew up at Galesburg where she graduated from high school. The family moved to a farm north of Iola, when she was 19. She completed her education at Iola Junior College.
On June 11, 1938, Mary married Elton Heinz at Garnett. They always made their home in Allen County where they farmed and dairied south of Gas for many years. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1987.
Besides farming, Mary worked at McAtee Nursing Home and later was a social worker for Community Action and Hope Unlimited. She enjoyed life - especially going to sales and traveling.
She was a member of the LaHarpe Christian Church and Loyal Neighbors Club.

Her 3 Children: Fred Heinz & wife, Pat of Gakona, Alaska, Janet Heinz of Peculiar, Missouri and Mike Heinz & wife, Gina of Carthage, Missouri
5 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a grandson, William Heinz, and by two brothers, Frederick and William Nelson
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m. Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, where the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Rev. Steve Traw will officiate.
BURIAL: Geneva Cemetery
Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, is in charge of arrangements.
