Obituary of David Hawn
David Lee Hawn, 80, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, September 5, 2014, at his home.
David was born August 3, 1934, in Pittsburg, Kansas, the son of George and Goldie (Prideaux) Hawn. He grew up in Pittsburg. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict when he was wounded and awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
In 1951, David married Donna Faye Rhudy in Pittsburg. They made their home in Washington State and Indiana before moving to Iola 37 years ago. He worked as an electrical engineer and master electrician for Sinclair Oil, ARCO, Atlantic Richfield and BP Oil. Donna preceded him in death July 4, 2010.
He was a member of the Iola American Legion and Community Baptist Church.

1 Daughter: Kathleen Hawn Maple & husband, Randy Lee of Iola, KS
1 Son: David Lee Hawn II & wife, Janet Lee of Crown Point, Indiana
9 Grandchildren and 24 Great Grandchildren with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, 6 siblings and a great grandson, Elijah Alexander Gonzalez.
VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
BURIAL: Girard Cemetery, Girard, Kansas
MEMORIAL CHOICES: Allen County Hospice or Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF)
