Obituary of Elizabeth A. Jockman

Elizabeth A. "Liz" Jockman, age 92, of Richmond, Kansas, passed away on October 16, 2009 at the Richmond Healthcare and Rehab Center at Richmond, Kansas. Liz was born March 24, 1917 at Richmond, Kansas the daughter of Aloysius and Clara (Rossman) Lickteig. She graduated from the Richmond High School. On January 5, 1937 she married Arthur Jockman. This union was blessed with three children. The couple made their home west of Ottawa, later moving to the family farm near Scipio. She was a member of the St. Boniface Catholic Church and Altar Society and a 4-H Leader in Scipio. Liz worked as a dietician at the Lake Mary Center in Paola. They moved to Paola in 1965, later moving to Garnett in 1968. Liz then became a member of the Holy Angels Catholic Church and the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Kansas Limousine Breeders Association. Liz was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Art, on February 11, 2009; three sisters, Evangeline Setter, Margaret Flack, and Louise (Pickert) Harper; and a son-in-law, Ronald Sims. She is survived by one son, Donald Jockman and wife Charlotte of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Rosalie Sims of Edgerton, Kansas; Joyce Callahan and husband Mike of Baldwin, Kansas; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a brother, Henry Lickteig and his wife, Ruby, of Lawrence, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Holy Angels Cemetery, Garnett. The family will greet friends following a Rosary at 6:30 PM, Monday evening at the funeral home in Garnett.
