Obituary of Kathryn Eckroat

Kathryn F. Eckroat, 95, of Piqua, Kansas, passed away at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 20, 2009, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas. Kathryn Frances Zawisza was born December 30, 1913, at Harrah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Mike and Frances Ann (Pauli) Zawisza. At the age of five, the family moved to Choctaw, Oklahoma, which is where she graduated from high school. On November 28, 1934, Kathryn married Edward C. Eckroat at Oklahoma City. Since 1943, they have made their home on a farm at Piqua, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2003. Kathryn was a lifelong homemaker, farmer, gardner and avid seamstress. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She was very active in her community where she was a member of the Neosho Valley FCE, and held the post of the Democratic Party Precinct person in Neosho Falls Township for many years. Kathryn was a lifetime member of St. Martin's Catholic Church and St. Martin's Altar Society in Piqua. SURVIVORS: 1 Daughter: Loretta Andres of Iola, KS 1 Son: Edward L. Eckroat & wife, Janice of Piqua, KS 1 Sister: Evelyn Eckroat & husband, Ted of Midwest City, OK 6 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren and 11 Great Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by a son, Raymond A. "Butch" Eckroat, two brothers, Andrew and Leo Zawisza and a nephew, Lee Zawisza.
