Obituary of Richard Drury
Richard Lee Drury, 79, Iola, died Friday June 28th 2013 at home.
He was born in Moran, KS to Harold and Jo Ann Drury and moved to Chanute, KS as a young child. He graduated from Chanute High School and Neosho Community College. He served in the Korean Conflict.
On September 21, 1958, Richard married Lois J. Traylor and they made their home in Iola, KS. He worked for Pet Milk until closing. He was an Iola Police officer for 17 years. Mr. Drury was a retired bus driver over bus maintenance for USD 257, where he worked for 30 years. He also owned Drury Lawn Service.
He enjoyed earning his badges in Eagle Scouts. He was a member of 1st Assembly of God Church. He was a board member for 40 years and a Royal Rangers Boys Troop Commander for 35 years. He was a member of Gideons International Association.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Jo Ann Drury, oldest brother Harold Eugene Drury, his twin brother Robert Drury, nephew Bill Drury, and son-in-law Kyle Martin.
Survivors include his wife Lois Drury, Iola, Tammy Drury, Iola, Sandra Drury, Iola, June Martin-Reno and Darrin Reno, Iola, and Rachel and Garry McCullough, Iola.
Grandchildren include Jesse Martin, Tulsa, OK, Jenell Martin, Overland Park, KS, Jamie and Heather Martin, Iola, Tiffany Martin, Iola, Dustin McCullough, Iola, Nicole McCullough, Iola, Charlie Metzer, Salina, Shelton Reno, Manhattan, and Shelby Reno, Iola.
Great grandchildren include Corey Boyer, Overland Park, Jada Martin, Iola, Braxtin Martin, Iola, and Isabelle Martin, Iola.
VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery, Mildred, Kansas
