Obituary of Jerry J. Zastrow

Jerry (Garland Jerome) Zastrow entered eternal rest on September 24, 2009 with his wife, Liz, and daughter, Kimberly at his side. He left this life as he lived it: on his terms. He was born June 6, 1935 to Emery and Irene (Randall) Zastrow in rural Garnett, Kansas. He spent his entire life farming; first, riding on the tractor with his dad, then carrying on the family tradition. Later in life after farming with his father for several years Jerry continued farming both his own place and the home place. After his father quit farming he would ride on the tractor with Jerry. He married Elizabeth Irene McCullough on March 1, 1959 in Iola, KS. Kimberly Suzanne joined this union on December 13, 1967. Jerry served in the National Guard Unit from Garnett, his mother Irene, was always proud of the time he served. Jerry was a collector of antique tractors and marbles. He was always kind to animals. Jerry did not have too many other hobbies due to the fact that farming was his hobby as well as his occupation. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Jeannie Gull-Falls. Jerry is survived by his wife Liz, of the home, daughter Kimberly Stahl, Garnett, his brother Richard Zastrow, Garnett, one grandson Ethan Stahl and his fianc Victoria (Graika), two great grandchildren, Coalton and Kyon, nephew, Jamie Gull and his wife Karen, their children Katie & Danielle of Girard, KS, and numerous other family members. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 28, 2009 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Garnett. Interment will follow in the Garnett Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00-6:00 PM, Sunday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care of Kansas and sent in care of the funeral home.
