Obituary of Ronald Davis

Ronald Dale Davis, 55, of Gas, Kansas, died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola, Kansas. Ron was born February 28, 1954, at Lucas, Kansas, the son of John W. and Renata (Wacker) Davis. He grew up in the Lincoln, Kansas, area. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1972. Ron began his career with the Soil Conservation Service working part-time while in high school. After receiving his degree in Agriculture from Colby Community College, he continued with the Soil Conservation Service at Washington, Kansas, then Iola, Kansas. He was currently a civil engineer technician with the United States Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service out of Chanute, Kansas. He has also worked part-time for the City of Gas for 25 years. On September 8, 1979, Ron married Debbie S. Jones in Iola. They made their home in Gas. Ron was a member of the Humboldt United Methodist Church where he was in the handbell choir and had also sang in the vocal choir. He has also coached girl's basketball at the Chanute Christian Academy. Ron enjoyed watching his daughter Kori play basketball, making limestone fence posts, woodworking, hunting and fishing. Jones of Gas, KS 1 Sister: Delores Schwinn & husband, Harold of Emporia, KS 2 Brothers: Glen Davis & wife, Joy of Pratt, KS and his twin, Donald Davis & wife, Jeanine of Topeka, KS A number of nieces and nephews Ron was preceded in death by his mother, Renata Davis and his mother-in-law, Sharon (Leslie) Jones. VISITATION: 6-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 26, 2009, at the Humboldt United Methodist Church in Humboldt, KS. Rev. Debby Dick will officiate.
