Obituary of Dorothy Drain
Dorothy Ruth Drain, 90, of Yates Center, Kansas, died Friday, January 9, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Independence.
Dorothy was born July 16, 1924, in Tonganoxie, Kansas, the daughter of Ralph and Laura (Madsen) Karr. She grew up in the Tonganoxie area until the family moved to a farm north of Moran in the 1940's.
On October 16, 1954, Dorothy married Charles R. Drain at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola. They made their home in the Owl Creek area southeast of Yates Center most of their lives. Mr. Drain died March 10, 2004, and she moved to Iola a few years later.
She was a member of the Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers and the Kansas Chapter of the Polka Lovers Klub of America. She enjoyed doing crafts with Charles and woodworking.

2 Sons: Richard Drain of Iola, KS and Thomas Drain of Oxnard, CA
1 Daughter: Ruth Allen of Independence, KS
1 Sister: Irene Orth of Phoenix, AZ
6 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Doris Robinson, 3 grandchildren, 5 brothers, Ahman, William, Robert, Ray and Roy Karr, and sister June Dunlap.
VISITATION: 6:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
BURIAL: St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Owl Creek
MEMORIAL: American Cancer Society
