Obituary of Bill Dible
Bill Dible, 72, of Gas City, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014.
Bill was born August 20, 1941, in Iola, Kansas, to Wayne and Wilma Dible. He grew up in Neosho Falls and graduated from Neosho Falls High School in 1958.
On December 10, 1971, Bill married Julie in Iola. They made their home in Iola and Neosho Falls, where he worked at Gates Rubber Company for 30 years. Bill served many years on the governing board of directors of the Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas.
Bill enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family, friends, and dogs. He was best known for his ability to fix anything and everything and his willingness to help others. Bill never met a stranger, he loved to visit about farming, gardening, and his oil wells to anyone he met. Bill coached softball for many years in Iola and instilled in his daughters and their friends a love of the game. He and his family took annual trips to Florida, where Bill enjoyed spending time on the beach. Bill was also a wonderful grandpa, always in the audience for every school concert, sports game, and dance recital.
Bill was loved by many including his wife of 43 years, Julie; six daughters, Jami and her husband Tim Thyer of Iola; Jill and her partner Kelli King of Emporia; Jana of Osage City; Jaci and her husband Jarred Sterling of Ottawa; Jeri of Washington, D.C.; and Jodi and her partner Gillian Wood of Denver; son, Joey and wife Tracy of Iola; brother, Morris and his wife Karen of Gas City; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and his dogs Whitey Ann and Annie.
A private memorial service will be held for family members. Donations in his honor can be made to Resilience Rising (http://www.resilience-rising.org), a non-profit founded by his daughter Jodi and partner Gillian.
