Obituary of John Daugherty
John William Daugherty, 70, of Kincaid, Kansas, died Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at his home.
John was born December 20, 1938, at Kincaid, Kansas, the son of Warren J. and Eunice M. (Caldwell) Daugherty. He grew up at Kincaid and graduated from Kincaid Rural High School in 1956.
After graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and served for 20 years. He served in Vietnam and was later stationed at Tacoma, Washington and Phoenix, Arizona before he retired as a staff sergeant in 1976.
On February 15, 1969, John married Alice Ellen "Pat" Patterson at Omaha, Nebraska. Following his retirement from the service, they made their home in Kansas City before moving to Kincaid in 1981. She preceded him in death on December 1, 2002.
He enjoyed owning and operating flea markets until his health failed. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
John served on the Kincaid City Council and helped deliver meals-on-wheels.

6 Grandchildren: Kalynne, Andrew, Dayton, Brandon and Hayden Daugherty and Seth Whitcomb
2 Sisters: Martha Chandler & husband, John of Eudora, Kansas, and Alice Stansbury & husband, Ellis of Kincaid, Kansas
He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
VISITATION: 7:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 16, 2009, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, Kansas
FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 17, 2009, at the Kincaid United Methodist Church. Pastor John Sheehan will officiate.
BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery at Mildred, Kansas with military honors.
MEMORIAL CHOICES: Kincaid Ball Association or Kincaid Fair Association
