Obituary of Helen Compston
Helen D. Compston, 88, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at the Allen County Regional Hospital.
Helen was born December 29, 1926, in Lenapah, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ansel and Fern (Schaub) Langworthy. She grew up in Lenapah and married Norman B. "Whitey" Compston on December 2, 1943 in Nowata, Oklahoma. They made their home in Leavenworth, KS, Delaware, OK, Humboldt, KS and Springfield, IL following his work. When he retired in 1985, they moved to the farm home in Lenapah. In 2001, they moved to Iola to be near family. He preceded her in death December 2, 2010.
Helen was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing and crochet. She was a member of Ladies of Elks, National Street Rods Assn. and Model A Club.

20 Grandchildren, 38 Great Grandchildren & 7 Great Great Grandchildren with one on the way
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Donna Rae Compston, granddaughter Rebecca Ann Compston, sisters Mildred & Mary Lou and brother Billy.
VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, June 5, 2015, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2015, at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Lenapah, Oklahoma
