Obituary of Blanche Cleaver
Blanche A. Cleaver, 91, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, December 22, 2008, at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas.
Blanche was born July 23, 1917, in Liberal, Missouri, the daughter of Ira and Dorothy (Hatter) Morgan. She graduated from high school in Liberal.
In 1937, Blanche married Roger Phil Mollohan and they made their home in El Dorado, Kansas, before moving to Iola in 1943. They divorced and in 1951, she married Harold C. "Bud" Cleaver. They made their home on a farm west of Iola. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1982. She moved to Iola in 1985.
Blanche has worked as a sales clerk for Betty's Dress Shop, JC Penneys, Johnnie's Dress Shop and then Litwin's before retiring.
She was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church.
Survivors: 2 Daughters: Judy A. Johnston of Lamar, MO, and Marilyn S. Hemminger of Marshalltown, IA
1 Sister: Dora Lee Calkins of Prairie Village, KS
2 Step-Sons: Ronald Cleaver & wife, June of Texas, and Will Cleaver & wife, Kay of Olathe, KS
5 Grandchildren & 7 Great Grandchildren & a number of Step-Grandchildren

Nephew: Gary Wells of Iola, KS
Blanche was preceded in death by a son, Tom Mollohan; step-daughter, Lois Smisor; 3 brothers, Art, Maynard & Ira Morgan; 5 sisters, Harriet, Florence, Dorothy, Marjorie & Elda; and by 2 grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Sat., Dec. 27, 2008, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Iola. The Rev. Gene McIntosh will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
Memorials are suggested to the Salem United Methodist Church and may be left at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel, Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
