Obituary of Glenn Carney DR
Dr. Glenn Vernon Carney, 81, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, January 23, 2012, at his home.
Glenn was born October 26, 1930, in Novelty, Missouri, the son of Jesse and Iva (Barnhart) Carney. The family moved to Kansas and he graduated from Nickerson High School in 1949, McPherson College in 1954, and the Kansas City University of Medicine and Bio Sciences in 1956. He practiced medicine in St. Louis, Missouri before moving to Iola in 1958. He retired from his profession on December 30, 1999, after 42 years of service as a doctor.
He was married to Phyllis Marie Hayes at Bland, Missouri in 1959.
She survives as do two children, Mark Alan Carney of Emporia, KS, and Nancy Jean Todd and husband, John of Olathe, KS, one brother, Richard Carney and wife, Joyce of Brevard, NC, grandchildren Michael David Mallery and companion Sarah Enslinger, Jacob Carney Todd, Alexander John Todd, Marah Elizabeth Carney and Jessica Todd Mooney and husband, Wade, and great grandchildren, Caitlin Marie Mooney and Cooper Michael Mallery.
A private family burial was held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Highland Cemetery in Iola. Rev. Earl Bell officiated.
The family request no flowers or memorials.
