Karen Elizabeth Carpenter, 73, of Iola, Kansas, died Friday, February 27, 2015, at her home. Karen was born April 25, 1941, in Seneca, Kansas, the daughter of Charles "Chike" & Helen (Larkin) Lierz. She grew up at Seneca and graduated from Concordia High School. In 1967, Karen married Harold M. "Bud" Carpenter. They made their home in Kansas City, Kansas, until moving to Iola in 1975. He preceded her in death in 1983. Karen ran a house cleaning service until she retired. SURVIVORS: 1 Son: Mike Carpenter & his wife, Marie Eve of Garnett, Kansas 1 Grandson: Xavier St. Pierre 2 Sisters: Jane Kipp & husband, Hank of Piqua, KS and Bette Penka & husband, Bernard of Garnett, KS She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. Cremation has taken place and no services are planned. Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, assisted the family.
