Dear Ann and John, Your mother was a wonderful treasure for the Colony schools and community. I have many fond memories of her strong and positive influence from my school years. She sent a wonderful note to my parents recently that was very thoughtful and kind! I'm sorry I didn't realize that she was in Wichita. It would have been wonderful to see her.

Dear Ann and John, I am so sorry to hear of your Mother's death. What a great teacher. She was always suggesting different books that she thought I might like to read. She really took time for me and encouraged me. I must admit I am worried that I might have some puncuation wrong or poor grammer as I write this. (Sorry Mrs. Hetzel!) What a great human being. Our loss on earth is God's gain in heaven. I am so sorry I could not be at her service, but I just found out today. I will always have great memories of your mother. God be with you always, Bonnie

I'm so blessed to have had Mrs. Hetzel in my life! She was my drama teacher at Crest High School from 1974-1978. She cared deeply about her students. Her passion in life was to help young people find their own strengths and talents. She was inspiring and encouraging and she never gave up on us. My life changed knowing her. About a week before she passed away, she wrote me and my family the sweetest note. She relayed how much she enjoyed knowing our family. Mrs. Hetzel, you were the blessing...how privileged I am to have had you cross my path in life. I see flashes of your smiling face in my mind...I know that you are in that final place of encompassing love and everlasting joy and peace. My prayers of comfort go out to her family and to all that were graced by her presence in their lives.

Dear Ann and Mike, You are in our thoughts and prayers. May you feel God's extra blessings during this time, may He give you renewed strength for the days ahead. We read your mother's obituary in the Iola newspaper. We feel privileged to have known your mother and received one of her special handmade pressed flower cards. Blessings, Don and Bette

Dennis and I were so sorry to hear of Mrs. Hetzels death . To me she was a neighbor when I was but a small child , but I remember both Ann & John coming to our house on Sundays to ride with us to Sunday school. To my husband she was much more. Mrs. Hetzel helped form him into the self confident person he is today. It wasn't easy growing up the middle child of 11 kids, but when he got to high school and Mrs. Hetzel entered his life , his life changed. He learned self confidence under her teachings, he learned not to be afraid to speak in front of crowds, which has always helped in his work, and mostly he learned to be proud of who he is. The latter was not quite so easy because of the tights she made him wear in a school play, but things like that did help in the end. I never had the privledge of having her as a teacher as I went to a different school, I heard many a story from Dennis on how wonderful his speech and drama was, and how she was "THE BEST TEACHE EVER". She was definately devoted to her students which is a trait so often missed . We truly are sorry to hear of your loss. Dennis & Maryjo(Hiestand)Gillaspie

Dear Ann, We are so sorry to hear of your mother's death. I know that you and Michael have been faithful caregivers for what seems like such a long time. This ends that period of your life, but it does not make her loss easy. I will be glad to see you in choir when we get back to Wichita in October. Yours, Diane Quantic

Hetzel Family - So sorry to hear about Aunt Ede. I always enjoyed her handmade cards with the pressed flowers and more importantly the kind, wise words she shared. She always encouraged me to enjoy life and live it to the fullest. I always enjoyed it when our family would stop to see her and Uncle Hetz when we were heading to Branson, MO for vacation. With much love - Barb
