Obituary of Sharon Ann Miller
Sharon Ann Miller, age 74, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, April 24, 2016.
She was born on February 14, 1942, at Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Omer and Frances (Schulte) Schillig. Sharon graduated from Westphalia High School in 1960.
Sharon was united in marriage to Richard Shellhorn on May 6, 1961. Three daughters were born to this union. They later divorced. Sharon married Willis Miller Sr. on January 5, 1978.
She worked for USD 365 as a secretary at Longfellow School. Sharon was also a teacher at Little People's Learning Center in Garnett. Sharon was a member of Holy Angels Church and the Altar Society at the church. In her retirement Sharon enjoyed volunteering at the Anderson County Hospital, ARC Thrift Store, Garnett Library, Golden Heights. She was also an active supporter of Friends of the Rail Trail. Sharon enjoyed playing cards, going to the Sr. Center and the Rec Center. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy and she made her best effort to attend as many of their activities events as possible.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Omer and Frances Schillig, and her sister, Dorothy Dieker.
She is survived by her husband, Willis Miller Sr., of the home; three daughters, Arlene Whitten and husband, Tom of Eudora, Kansas, Jackie Shellhorn of Lenexa, Kansas, and Brenda Brown and husband, Mark of Mesa, Arizona; step-daughter, Linda Hernandez of Edgerton, Kansas; step-son, Willis Miller, Jr. of Bucyrus, Kansas; brother, Clarence Schillig and wife, Shirley of Westphalia, Kansas; sister, Norma Jean Goodwin and husband, Preston of Lee's Summit, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Michael, Alex, and Nicole Whitten.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, April 29, 2016, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett, Kansas. Sharon's family will greet friends following the funeral mass at St. Rose School. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday evening at the Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Angels Altar Society or Garnett Senior Center and left in care of the funeral home.
