Clyde always had a smile, I didn't know Clyde until we formed the Riverside horseshoe club. Clyde was one of the gentlemen from the Garnett area that became a regular attendant along with Percy Oliver at our club league play, pitched last year in tournaments in Iola and enjoyed by everyone. Still at our league nights we use Clydes name regularly because of his style of pitching which wrapped the shoe around the stake without touching the stake clean as a whistle, "ringer" anytime it happens at our league play you will hear that was a Clyde Merrill. He will be remembered in Iola.
