Obituary of Clifford Vaughan

Clifford J. Vaughan, age 70, of Kincaid, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at his home. Clifford was born February 18, 1940 at Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Ralph and Dorothy (Moore) Vaughan. He grew up in the Kansas City, Kansas area attending Turner High School before entering the United States Navy in 1957. This service took him to Japan and the Philippines and many other places. On August 11, 1961 Clifford was united in marriage to Betty Hilton at Argentine, Kansas, this union was blessed with two children. Following his honorable discharge in 1961 he returned to Kansas City where he began working for Wyandotte County then for Certainteed. Clifford then began driving a truck for Tiona Truck Lines, driving for them for several years. He then drove for FedEx before retiring from trucking. Following his retirement Clifford drove a school bus for the Crest School District for several years, retiring in 2007. Clifford enjoyed collecting coins, fishing, cutting wood and taking care of his cattle. He especially enjoyed his times visiting with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Donald Vaughan. Clifford is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty, of the home; son, Jim Vaughan; daughter, Jenny Schooler and husband, David, all of Kincaid; three grandchildren, Joshua and wife, Danielle, Jacob, and Tana Schooler; one great-granddaughter, Evie Violet Schooler; four brothers, Ralph and wife, Bobbie, of Chula Vista, California, John and wife, Betty, of Oak Grove, Missouri, Dave and wife, Gail, of Hays, Kansas, John Jay and wife Gayle of Castle Rock, Colorado; and one sister, Martha Wilmoth and husband, Doug, of Shawnee, Kansas. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 1, 2010 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, 219 S. Oak, Garnett, Kansas. Inurnment will follow in the Kincaid Cemetery following the service. The family will greet friends from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, Monday evening at the funeral home in Garnett.
