Obituary of Beryl Delmer Sarver

Delmer Sarver, age 93, of Iola, Kansas, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 22, 2017, after a courageous battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. Delmer was born May 3, 1924, on the family farm near Petrolia, Kansas, to Cyrus L. and Jesse Olive (Andrews) Sarver. At a very young age, his family moved to a farm northeast of Iola. He graduated from Gas City grade school and Iola High School in 1942. Along with farming, Delmer worked as a salesman and District Manager for Moorman Feed Company for 28 ½ years. In retirement he enjoyed golf, hunting, and traveling, and served on the City of Iola Planning Committee and Allen County Planning and Zoning Committee for 15 years. In 1958 Delmer married Pauline Potts and inherited three children, Charlene, Darrell and Nancy Potts. In 1960 they added a son, Craig. Delmer was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene; his parents; a brother William (Bill) Sarver; and sister Eulalia Sarver Cessna. He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Polly) Sarver of the home; three children, Darrell Potts and wife, Carla, Nancy Laidlaw and husband, Tom, and Craig Sarver and wife, Tammy; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Iola, where he was a member. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, Iola. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Hwy 54, Iola. Memorials are suggested to Wesley United Methodist Church, Allen Community College Scholarship Fund, or American Cancer Society and may be left with the funeral home.
