Obituary of David Edward Dalton

David Edward Dalton/Mein, Sr., age 64, of Humboldt, KS passed away at his home of natural causes the morning of June 25, 2017. Dave was born July 20, 1952 in Girard, KS to Orville Edward and Nadine Amanda (Kroenke) Mein, and graduated from Westport High School in Kansas City, MO. As a young man, David took pride in serving our country in the Air Force. He later had a career in cabinetry at Midwest Cabinets of Chanute, KS where he then retired to spend leisurely days helping family, friends and neighbors with odd jobs and projects. Dave loved many outdoor activities including restoring his truck and tinkering in his shop. Dave was a very attentive, loving father, son, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. He was extremely proud of his children; David Edward Mein, Jr. and wife, Valerie, of Martins Mill, TX, and Kathy Jo Hawley and husband, Jason, of Iola, KS. He is also survived by his mother, Nadine Amanda Mein, brother, Wayne Walter Mein, sister, Carolyn Louise Mein, grandsons, Judiah Lloyd Hawley, Jake Kavin Mckenneth Johnson, Joshua Lee Hawley, Elijah Zane Mein, and Reid Talmadge Mein, and his granddaughter Ruthie Rene Mein. He was preceded in death by his father, Orville Edward Mein. His service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, June 30 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 16 N Buckeye, Iola, KS. The family will receive friends from noon until 1:00 at the funeral home prior to the service. The burial will take place in Hepler Lutheran Cemetery immediately following the service. Contributions in Dave's memory are suggested to be made payable to WildTrust, and will be used by the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.
