Roger will be sorely missed by many! I have such wonderful memories of him from high school and beyond! He always had a friendly and warm smile on his face, that could melt anyone's heart. Even to the very end, he maintained a positive attitude as he fought this dreaded cancer. I have no doubt he will be in Heaven to greet the rest of us when our time comes. My deepest sympathies to Norma, Annette, Clara, Russell, Ralph and all the family and extended family. My condolences for all that you have been asked to go through of late. Roger was indeed a character and brought a lot of light and a lot of laughter to so many. Quite the unforgettable personality, I will carry with me dozens of great memories for the rest of my life. I loved the way Roger viewed the world. And of course I, like so many others have noted, deeply admired his courage and tenacity in facing the cancer challenge. Special thoughts and prayers for you, Norma. So hard to lose a good friend who was closer to my brother John than me, but for whom I always had a lot of affection. What a hard working man. Although Roger was older than me by a few grades in school, I knew him to be honest and genuine. I admire his love for the land-Kansas, and Anderson county has some real beauty. Norma, Clara, Annette, Janice, Leslea, Lu, Lisa, Russell and Ralph, Merle, Joella and all the rest of the family:
I always thought growing up Roger was tough but when cancer entered his life a few years ago he did not back down. He fought it with everything he had. We all thought he had it beat but when it came back it ended up winning the fight.
Roger was a true farmer. He took pride in his work. He spent endless hours riding his tractors in the fields before daylight and well after dark. And some years the crops produced well and the weather cooperated but other years there was drought, hail,insects and the fields were not as productive.
But thru all of the farming and health problems Roger never turned his back on God. He and Norma had such faith. And this led him down a path where his best friends of late have been Father Jerry and Father Dave. They shared meals, stories, and prayers to give Roger and Norma the strength they needed to go thru this battle.
The Feuerborn and Rockers kids were cousins and best friends our entire lives. We shared so much fun growing up together. Lots of hayrides, family reunions and now we share the loss of one of the group.
Until we meet again Roger don't worry about this earth you paid your dues now you get to reap the harvest in heaven.
