Our condolences for Raymond, Jr. and Duane and all of ther=ir families. As you might remember, your dad, fondly called "Ghandi" was a wonderful teacher and mentor to me, my classmates and others that played for him. We all learned more that football and basketball from him . And I was one of the fortunate to be on the '49 team going to the state even thought I had very little athletic skills.Bless you all and may the memory of your Dad's be everlansting!!!

Coach Meyer was a great person inside and out and will be missed by everyone blessed to know him. I remember him teaching my brother, Billy, and I to play Biddy basketball when we were little and remember him working with my dad John Benton. I will be keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Coach was my Homeroom and Study Hall teacher a couple years. He always gave me a pass to go to the Library where we could hang out. Only so many were supposed to get passes and trade days but sometimes he would let of few of us go more often. Always had that smile on his face.
And I would hate to ever try to guess the amount of walnuts he pick or fish he caught. He loved doing both with his wife.
Rest in Peace COACH !!

We want to express our deepest sympathy in the loss of Coach Meyer. He was always such a gentle person and loved his sports, family and friends. Jim and I saw Coach in September at my 60th class reunion and he looked so great and visited with many friends and guys he had coached in Garnett.
He will be missed by many.

To the sons, grandchildren and grgrandchildren I would like to convey my deepest condolences on the death of your great father/grandfather. Coach Meyer came to Garnett when I began my senior year at GHS. He gave me a position on the first team on defense - something that would never happened with the coach he replaced. For that I have forever been grateful. I left Garnett shortly after I graduated, first for my military service, then for my career worldwide in the petroleum industry. When I retired I moved back to Garnett and reunited with Coach. I bought a small farm So east Garnett that had some walnut trees and some wild blackberries. I gave him free rein to do as he wanted with them. He harvested the walnuts and when he picked the black berries he ALWAYS gave me a little basket of them. I am now living in Norway and cannot see a way to be with you Saturday but I WILL be there in spirit!! We have lost a very special person.
With Love William E. Gifford (Bill) (my middle name is the same as his!)

Coach was a huge part of my family's life. He was so much more than just a sports COACH. He was a life coach, a faith coach, a love coach, a laughter coach, a family coach, a respect coach and so much more. I remember spending hours with him at the bowling alley when he bowled with my daddy. I remember Sundays at church watching him worship and rejoice in his faith. I remember spending evenings at his house as a child listening to his many stories while the adults all played cards, I remember the fishing stories, the GIANT fishing lure that hung on the wall, the love he had for his family, the respect he had for every single person he met, the rough tough coach that took no BS or allowed any disrespect. So many fond memories of a wonderful man. My greatest memory...my most treasured lesson from Coach. If you just paid attention....you would see the great love, the unending love, the love that seems so rare these days. The love Coach Meyer had for an amazing lady, his wife Mabel. Two of the most amazing people, what great role models and mentors for the Garnett community. Thank you sir for blessing my life with all you did for me. Rest easy in the arms of Jesus and rejoice in heaven with Mabel. Until we meet again Coach ♡ -Kerri (Carr) Mains

Mr. Meyer was the PE coach for boys when I was in high school. I remember the day I dislocated my knee in girls PE and he came and helped me and loaded in his pickup and took me to the emergency room. He is truly a man of remarkable character. He touched and molded many young children and teens. What a legacy he leaves behind. Good bless the family during this time.

My sincere condolences to the entire family of Coach Ray Meyer in his loss.
As many others he taught me not to be just a good athlete, but also about life in general.
I enjoyed talking with him at the South Lake in Garnett (behind the water plant) during his later years. Always a man of kind words of encouragement!!!!
My prayers are with all family and friends of this great man.
