Dorothy"s Family
I can not express what I feel
at your loss.
I just saw your Mom about 4
weeks ago as she was getting
her hair done. It was so good to see her and get to visit with her.

Sharon Ross posted a condolence
I grew up hearing lots of stories about Dorothy Fern from my Grandma, Marilla Ross, and my dad (her cousin,) Marvin (Toby) Ross. I remember her as a sweet, kind, woman who always had a smile for me as a little kid. My sympathy to all in her family.

Milly (Gorrell) Prothe posted a condolence
Well, kids, I had no idea that you had lost your sweet mom until today as I searched for burial info for my Uncle Loyd Burcham.
I'm sorry to hear about your loss. She amazed me when she knew who I was at the visitation for Marvin Stites. She even recalled the night that a bloody girl banged through the window glass of your storm door after I hit the farmer next door on his tractor. You were all so good to me then.
I'm sure that you are bored to tears to be reminded that my Uncle John (Jack) McHone once lived in the house that you grew up in. Jack is departed now, and his wife Katherine is at home tying down for Hurricane Earl that will threaten Virginia Beach later. Such strength in these ladies.
Uncle Loyd, mom's brother, passed this morning and the service will be Saturday, so I best get back to business of preparing for that.
I wish you the best of all, and God bless you.

Larry Gillum posted a condolence
Dorothy was my first-cousin once removed. Her mother was a twin sister to my grandmother Ada Alice (Carpenter) Gillum. My father was LaRoy Edward Gillum. I haven't seen Dorothy in many years, but remember her from happy family gatherings at her home place. There were so many in the Carpenter family, and cousins by the dozens came out of the woodwork! My memory of Dorothy was that of a cheerful, friendly, lovely person. I am so sorry for your loss. May God bless and hold all of you. Larry
