Harold Hermann
Harold Hermann, age 73 of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on January 3, 2017, at his home.
He was born April 30, 1943, near Harris, Kansas, the son of Albert John and Mary Catherine (Wilper) Hermann. Harold graduated from Westphalia High School with Class of 1961.
Harold married Pauline Foltz on February 12, 1966 at Garnett, Kansas; this union was blessed with three children.
He served 4 years in the National Guard. After his service, he was well known as the local repairman working for Deep Rock Appliance, and owned Anderson County Appliance. Following that he worked for Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas and other businesses in maintenance. He also served as a Volunteer Fireman, Civil Defense Director, and an EMT. He belonged to Holy Angels Church, Knights of Columbus, Optimist Club, served on the ECKAN Board of Directors, and volunteered at the Senior Center.
His greatest love was his children and grandchildren. He loved attending as many of their events as he could. He had been an avid bowler, enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching the Chiefs, Royals, and college sports events. He was always happy to drink a cup of coffee and chat with anyone about his grandkids, sports, or the weather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary Catherine Hermann; one brother, Albert Hermann, sisters in law Betty Hermann and Thelma Hermann.
Harold is survived by his children, Mackayla Martin and husband Gary, Michael Hermann and wife Monica, all of Garnett, Marty Hermann and wife Kristin, of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, Ashlyn, Madison, and Garrison Martin, Hayden, Spencer, and Carter Hermann, Brady and Logan Hermann; siblings Mary David and husband Gerald of Girard, Kansas, Richard Hermann and Frank Hermann of Garnett, Kansas, Dorothy Mathers of North Platte, Nebraska, Sister Alberta Hermann of Atchison, Kansas, Clarence Hermann and Wilma of Garnett, Kansas, Mary Ann Hermann, sister-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett with burial at St. Teresa cemetery, Westphalia. Rosary and visitation will be held on Monday evening at Holy Angels Church and 6:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harold Hermann Memorial Fund.
