Obituary of Shannon Garber
Shannon Garber, age 60, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Overland Park, Kansas.
She was born February 28, 1956 at Hays, Kansas, the daughter of Robert Glen and Maxine Pearl (Sims) Bowlin. She graduated from Chapman High School with the Class of 1974 at Chapman, Kansas.
Shannon married Leslie Garber on June 21, 1975 in Chapman, Kansas, this union was blessed with three sons. She stayed home raising her family until she started working as a vehicle clerk at the Anderson County Treasurer Office in Garnett for 16 years. She enjoyed her time at the Treasurer's Office, with her co-workers and the many people of Garnett and Anderson County. Shannon invested a lot of time in her sons, raising them to be three great gentlemen. She was a den mother for several years and a proud scout mother of three Eagle Scouts. Shannon greatly enjoyed helping other people in whatever ways she could.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Garnett, she was a member of the choir, playing the piano and organ for many services.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Bowlin and stepfather, Jesse Wilson Lawrence.
Shannon is survived by her husband, Leslie Garber, of the home; three sons, Benjamin Garber and wife Brittany of Olathe, Kansas; Patrick Garber of Overland Park, Kansas; and Christopher Garber of Garnett; three grandchildren, Austin Vann, Lucas Garber and Lola Garber; one brother, Brad Young and wife Cathy of El Dorado, Kansas; and her mother, Maxine Lawrence of Augusta, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at First Christian Church, Garnett. Burial will follow in the Garnett Cemetery in Garnett, Kansas. The family will greet friends at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to W.I.N.G.S. or Boy Scout Troop #126.
