Obituary of Etta Marie Egidy

Etta Marie Egidy, age 93, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Monday, October 31, 2016 at Olathe Hospice House, Olathe, Kansas. She was born March 26, 1923, at Scipio, Kansas, the oldest of five children of Oscar and Rose (Hochstatter) Setter. She attended St. John's School and Greeley High School. She was a member of St. John's Church and Altar Society, and the Ladies Auxiliary. Etta married Louis H. Egidy on May 22, 1944. They were blessed with three sons. She helped with the dairy and farming for 30 years, later raising beef and she worked for the S.R.S. for 10 years. After retiring, they took lots of trips and went camping at different lakes. She was a homemaker, loved to cook, sew and garden. Etta enjoyed her flowers, made quilts, needlework, crafts, and most of all the grandchildren. She loved watching baseball and basketball games. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Rose Setter; her husband, Louis Egidy on June 20, 2010; her son, Bernard Egidy on July 6, 2008; her brother, Ralph J. Setter; three sisters, Irene Gellhaus, Rita Kipper, and Bernadine Rockers; and one daughter-in-law, Lucinda Likes Egidy on January 11, 2013. Etta is survived by her children, Larry Egidy and wife Linda of Warsaw, Missouri, and Paul Egidy of Greeley, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Egidy of Olathe, Kansas; six grandchildren, Coleen Salman, Dana Yaghmour, Holly Egidy, Bernard Egidy, Amber Elliott, and Tyler Egidy; seven great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Setter of Garnett; many nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, November 4, 2016, at St. John's Catholic Church, Greeley, with burial following in St. John's Catholic Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday evening following a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Altar Society.
