Obituary of Pearl Green

Pearl Green, age 95, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, June 2, 2010, in Iola, Kansas. Pearl was born on August 24, 1914, at Elkhart, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Albert and Grace Mabel (Robinson) Riley. She attended Pleasant Ridge school located northwest of Kincaid. She was united in marriage to Irel Albert Green on July 18, 1931 at Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with two sons. "Feenie" and Pearl made their home in Kincaid until moving to Colony where she resided until a year ago. Pearl was a homemaker and she worked as a rural mail carrier. She was a member of Eastern Star and the Kincaid Baptist Church. Pearl and "Feenie" enjoyed spending time at their cabin at Grand Lake with the boys. She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans and gardening, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Grace Riley; her husband, Irel Green in 1989; three brothers, Albert Riley, Lonnie Riley, Vernon Riley; two sisters, Letha McBride and Martha Meeder. Pearl is survived by her two sons, Gary Green of Topeka, Kansas; Gilbert Green and wife Kathy of Colony, Kansas; one sister, Evelyn Hickenbottom of California; four grandchildren, Felicia Benjamin, Tony Benjamin, Andy Benjamin and Austin Green; and three great grandchildren, Breyanna Benjamin, Kelsie Benjamin, and Tyson Benjamin, and multiple nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Mildred, Kansas. Family will be present to greet friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the funeral home in Colony. Memorial contributions may be made to Colony Community Church.
