Obituary of Johnny Womack

John W. "Johnny" Womack, Jr., 58, of Iola, Kansas, died Thursday, February 10, 2011, in the emergency room at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. Johnny was born April 21, 1952, in San Diego, California, the son of John Walter Womack, Sr. and Elizabeth Ann "Betty Ann" (Sanden) Womack. He grew up in Iola where he graduated from Iola High School in 1970. One of the highlights of his high school years was winning a trip to Europe while in F.F.A. He graduated from Allen County Community College and has made his home in Iola all of his life. Johnny started house moving when he was 15. He has owned and operated Womack Emergency Service and Thohoff Construction for many years. He was a member of the Allen County Fair Board for many years and the House Moving Association. Johnny enjoyed racing cars, flying small aircraft, his limo service and attending the Kansas State Fair. He also enjoyed demolition derbies where he was named the "Master of Disaster". He had the mechanical knowledge to build and create many projects. Johnny never met a stranger. SURVIVORS: His lifetime companion: Evelyn Ann Thohoff of the home His father: John W. Womack, Sr. of Merriam, KS 2 Brothers: Doug Womack & wife, Janette of Lawrence, KS, and Steve Womack & wife, Annette of Iola, KS 2 Sisters: Nancy McGrew & husband, Bob of Centennial, CO and Anita Rowe & husband, John of Mound City, KS 8 Nieces & Nephews: Dr. Megan McGrew, Heath Womack & wife, Samantha, Brandon Womack & wife, Bryn, Shane Womack, Allison Womack, Sara Rowe, Jake Rowe and Ben Rowe. 1 Great Nephew: Nathan Womack Special Friend & Family: Mike & Jeanne Cooper and their children: Tasia & Tariq & son, Colt, Misty & Greg, Josh and Jesse He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Ann Womack and sister, Mary Ann Womack. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. ROSARY & MASS: The rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. followed by the mass at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, both at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola. The Rev. Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant.
