Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, KS Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel. Ethel (Barr) Mulkey, 78, of LaHarpe, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 in Iola. Born September 5, 1932, in Humboldt, Kansas, she was the daughter of Charles and Lois (Clement) Stroh. They preceded her in death along with her beloved brother, Charles Stroh. She was also preceded in death by a step-daughter, Cindy Folk. Ethel graduated from Iola High School. She retired from S.R.S. but also worked for a number of years as a squaredancer in the Shephard of the Hills play in Branson. Ethel loved the piano and could play almost any song by ear. In her later years she played for nursing homes and other groups. She especially loved attending the Old Time Fiddlers, Pickers and Singers get-togethers. Ethel is survived by her husband, John Mulkey, of the home; her three children, Vickie Jenkins, Chanute, Gail Kingsley, Wichita and Michael Barr, Humboldt; a step-daughter, Sandra Sotomayor, Port Angeles, Washington; her grandchildren, Taylor and Alex Jenkins, Ashley and Lance Slieff, Shawna and Tyler Kilian, Carly Peckman; Joab, Jarred, Alyssa and Eiselee Barr; and Jake, Travis, Rachel and Cole Kingsley; and her great grandchildren, Alyson Slieff, Lyric Duncan and Emery Kilian. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2011, at the Moran Christian Church. Pastor Bill LaPorte will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas.
