Obituary of Helen Parks
Helen Bernice Parks, 72, of Humboldt, Kansas, died Saturday, August 21, 2010, at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice located at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Helen was born April 14, 1938 in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Gilbert J. and Bernice O. (Nelson) DeMeritt. She attended the Prairie Rose Country School until the seventh grade. She then enrolled in the Moran school system where she graduated from high school. After high school Helen moved to Topeka where she attended the Clark's School of Business.
She worked in the office of the Santa Fe Railroad until marrying Wayne E. Parks in Moran on January 2, 1960. They moved to California where they lived for twelve years before making their home in Pond Creek, Oklahoma. While in California she worked for the Prudential Insurance Company and in Pond Creek she worked in human resources at the air force base in Enid. Mr. Parks preceded her in death on September 6, 1976.
Helen then lived in Independence and Iola, Kansas before moving to Humboldt. She enjoyed quilting, making crafts, clerking garage sales and taking care of her two cats.

2 Sisters: Phyllis Berry and Audrey Wagner both of Iola, KS
6 Brothers-in-Law: Elam Parks, Brent Parks and wife Betty, Hal Parks, Rick Parks, Bob Parks and wife Lindy, and John Parks
1 Sister-in-Law: Joan Humphrey
5 Nephews and 5 Nieces and a number of great nephews and nieces
She was preceded in death by her parents.
VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2010, at New Home Cemetery located in Nash, Oklahoma.
MEMORIAL: Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF)
