Obituary of Lewis Tindell

Lewis Tindell, age 69 of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2010, at the K.C. Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri. Lewis was born on September 6, 1940, at Burlingame, Kansas, the son of Roy and Carol (Oeser) Tindell. He grew up in the Burlingame area, graduating with the Class of 1958. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany in September 1958. He married Mary Beth Scott in May of 1963. This union was blessed with two sons, Brent Alan Tindell and Jeffrey Lyn Tindell. They later divorced. Lewis married Mary Ann Stevens (Morey) on August 17, 1994 in Garnett, Kansas. Lewis worked as a welder for 30 years, and buried phone cable for 15 years. He also was a farmer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching wildlife, and bird watching, playing cards, his cattle and farming. Lewis also enjoyed spending time watching the neighbor kids and nieces and nephews playing sports and participating in FFA, 4-H, and other events. Lewis was a past member of the Delphian Masonic Lodge in Kansas City, Kansas and a member of the American Legion Post 44. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Beulah May Sisco. Lewis is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Tindell of the home; three sons, Brent Tindell of Garnett, Kansas; Jeff Tindell of Basehor, Kansas; Xavier Stevens of Santa Monica, California; and one daughter, Xanthippe Wedel of Lawrence, Kansas; four grandchildren, Brent Jr., Krista, Katie and Rachel; four great grandchildren, Alyssa, Sammy, Alex and Nathan; three sisters, June Judy of Mountain Home, Arkansas; Rose Dennison of Garnett, Kansas, and Carrie Rulon of Littleton, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Kansas City Hospice & Pallative Care and may be left in care of the funeral home.
