Obituary of James Miller

James Graham "Jim" Miller, 80, of rural Iola, Kansas, died Monday, September 13, 2010, at the Allen County Hospital in Iola. Jim was born February 3, 1930, in Iola, the son of Milow D. and Ethel (Graham) Miller. He grew up at Greenwood County near Virgil and Lamont where his father worked the oil fields. He graduated from Lamont High School and attended Emporia State University before serving in the Eighth Army Division during the Korean Conflict. On October 17, 1953, Jim married Marilyn B. Miller at Emporia, Kansas. They have made their home and farmed southwest of Iola since then. He was a member of the American Legion in Chanute, Kansas. SURVIVORS: His wife: Marilyn Miller of the home 2 Daughters: Nancy Overacker of Shawnee, Kansas and Cheryl Miller of Hutchinson, Kansas He was preceded in death by his parents. VISITATION: 7:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 16, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
