Obituary of Harold Lundine

Harold V. Lundine, 93, of Iola, Kansas, died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at Tara Gardens in Iola. Harold was born April 28, 1917, at Munich, North Dakota, the son of Henry and Josephine (Smith) Lundine. He grew up and attended school in Humboldt, Kansas. He went to Civilian Conservation Corp prior to serving four years with the United States Army during World War II. On August 2, 1941, Harold married Florine A. Smith at Camp Robinson, Arkansas. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, they made their home in Iola. Harold worked for the United States Postal Service from 1945 until he retired as a mail carrier in 1977. Florine preceded him in death on December 24, 2006. He memberships include the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, First Baptist Church and the American Legion. Harold enjoyed hunting, fishing and doing yardwork. A highlight in his life in recent years was being a part of the Kansas Honor Flight for WWII veterans to Washington D.C. in 2008 and 2009. SURVIVORS: 1 Daughter: Becky Walker of Iola, KS 1 Daughter-In-Law: Roberta Bradford of Topeka, KS 2 Grandsons: Thad Lundine & wife, Deseree of Nevada, MO, and Tyler Lundine & wife, Jenny of Beloit, KS 4 Great Grandchildren: Hailee & Hunter Lundine, Lance & Rilee Lundine He was preceded in death by a son, Leon Lundine, grandson, Lance Lundine, 3 sisters, Joan Clements, Shirley Ericson and Elizabeth Whitcomb, and 4 brothers, Stanley Lundine, John Lundine, Elmer Nickell, Jr. and Tom Nickell. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Pastor Dave McGullion will officiate. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, KS MEMORIAL: Kansas Honor Flight Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
