Obituary of Edward King
Edward Joseph "Ed" King, 85, of rural Piqua, Kansas, died Saturday, March 26, 2011, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
Ed was born January 7, 1926, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the son of John F. and Lillian G. (Eckroat) King. He grew up and attended school in the Oklahoma City area. At the age of 18, he moved with the family to Piqua.
Edward served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
On September 18, 1950, he married Elizabeth "Bessie" Prescher at Scotland, Texas. They made their home at Piqua and Muenster, Texas until 1963 when he farmed full-time at Piqua. He has also worked as an auto mechanic.
Ed was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Iola, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #13 in Yates Center, Kansas, Yates Center Zoning Board and was chairman of the Yates Center Senior Center. He has won numerous awards for soil conservation over the years. Ed also loved to play cards.

He was preceded in death by a grandson Justin King, brothers Wilford "Bub", Paul and A.B. King and sister Mary Royston.
VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
ROSARY & MASS: The parish rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2011, followed by the mass at 10:30 a.m. both at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola. The Reverend Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant.
BURIAL: St. John's Catholic Cemetery at Gas, KS
