Obituary of Kathryn Hammond
Kathryn L. Hammond, 77, of Moran, Kansas, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Chanute Healthcare Center in Chanute, Kansas.
Kathryn was born August 20, 1933, at Elsmore, Kansas, the daughter of William Leon and Gertrude Mae (Rawlings) Mechnig. She grew up at Elsmore until the family moved to a farm at Westphalia.
Kathryn married Raymond Lloyd Hammond in June of 1950 and they had seven children. She has made her home at Moran most of her life and she worked as a seamstress at H.L. Miller & Son Dress Factory in Iola for almost 25 years.

3 Sisters: Loretta Helt of Lincoln, NE, Jane Waggoner of Wichita, KS, and Susie Croul of Corona del Mar, CA
Long-Time Friend: Floyd Ohmie of Chanute, KS
16 Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her father, William L. Mechnig, a grandson, Jerry L. Houk, and a half-sister, Erma Eileen Thomas.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
BURIAL: Moran Cemetery, Moran, KS
MEMORIAL CHOICES: American Heart Association or American Cancer Society
