Obituary of Mary Clounch

Marylee Constance Clounch was born on January 22, 1929 to Clarence and Stella Cheney in Humboldt, Kansas, and she was the youngest child born to this union. Her mother, father, seven brothers, three sisters, a great grandson and her devoted husband preceded her in death. Mary departed this life on March 11, 2011 at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Mary received her formal education in the public schools in Humboldt, Kansas. She accepted Christ in her life as a child and joined the Poplar Grove Baptist Church. On June 24, 1948, she was united in holy matrimony to William Clounch. To this union five children were born. Mary has served in numerous capacities in the church, district, and state. She served 69 years at various positions which included: 40 years as Sunday School superintendent, choir member, President of Congress for Neosho Valley District. Mary recently was inducted into the Kansas Missionary Hall of Fame. Mary strove to the best of her abilities to demonstrate through precepts and examples a Christlike life. She has been an inspiration to all those who have come in contact with her. Her sweet spirit and loving ways have blessed our lives and touched our hearts. She leaves to cherish her memories five children, Janet (Odell) Pulley of Iola, Juanita (George) Bell of Houston, Timothy (Karen) Clounch of Humboldt, Cheney Lee Clounch of Denver, Richard Clounch of Los Angeles; two special nieces, Lynetta Boyd of Denver, and Nancy Walls of Iola; one sister-in-law, Ernestine Cheney of Humboldt. She held a special place in the hearts of her 7 grandchildren: Mary Pulley, Cornell Pulley, Tyler Bell, Lauren Bell, Shawn Clounch, Brandi Clounch, Anthony Lew and 5 great-grandchildren: Travail Pulley, Macie Clounch, Jaydin Clounch, Aaron Lew, and Jalen Broussard; two very dear companions, Rev. and Mrs. Kennebrew, and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. VISITATION: 6:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Poplar Grove Baptist Church in Humboldt, Kansas. BURIAL: Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas MEMORIAL: Poplar Grove Baptist Church Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
