Obituary of Patricia Becker

Patricia Brown Becker, 66, of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away peacefully Monday, April 25, 2011, at Menorah Medical Center in Overland Park, after a brief illness. Born on January 24, 1945, in Tacoma, Washington, to Charles and Lucille (Golba) Brown of Mildred, Kansas, Pat grew up in Mildred graduating from Moran High School, Iola Junior College, and Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia. She taught kindergarten through second grade in the Iola school system. She later worked at her husband's business, Chanute Iron and Supply, as well as for Brown's Store in Mildred. Pat helped start the hospice program for the Neosho Memorial Hospital in Chanute. She spent her last years taking care of her parents at her home in Humboldt. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Michael C. Becker, Humboldt, formerly of Kansas City, Missouri, and her father, Charles L. Brown of Mildred. Survivors include her son, Michael D. Becker of Mildred; mother, Lucille Brown, Mildred, now of Higginsville, MO; brother, Bob (Donna) Brown of Higginsville, and sister, Sandy (Jerry) Cormack of Lenexa. She also leaves nephews and nieces, Scott and Mary Brown of Odessa, MO, Kayte Cormack of Kansas City, KS, and Colby Cormack of Lenexa, and great niece, Kylee Brown, an aunt and uncles and many cousins and friends. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola, Kansas ROSARY & MASS: The parish rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. followed by the mass at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 29, 2011, both at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola. The Reverend Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant. BURIAL: Fairview Cemetery at Mildred, Kansas MEMORIAL CHOICES: Horizon Hospice, St. John's Catholic Church or Pets For Life, Inc., an organization in Kansas City that provides therapy dog teams for hospital patients which Pat enjoyed. Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
